Hello. I'm Rep. Michael Granger, and the one thing that my voters complain about the most is Property Taxes. I share their attitude; the property taxes are too darn high. We have the opportunity to stop it, but I'll need your help.
First, I'll need you to request Time Off from work if you work on Saturday February 7th. This is required because the Town Deliberative Session (a town meeting where voters can shape the ballot in March) is that day, and it is an all day event. I know you likely have better things to do that day. I also know that if Republicans show up, stick together, and vote as a team, we win.
Remember your recent tax bill? Remember how the number was really large? Remember how you were already dreading it because the last one was already too large and this one somehow managed to be even bigger? A lot of that is determined at the town meeting last year where a bunch of spending was voted on... and passed... because Conservatives were outnumbered. It is imperative that in a blood-red town like Milton we have a blood-red budget and blood-red Town Meeting.
Several things are going to be debated at this town meeting. The most important is Partisan Elections.
Right now, when people vote in town elections, it doesn't show whether the people on the ballot are Democrats or Republicans. This means that, even though in Milton Republicans heavily outnumber Democrats, Democrats are usually able to win seats in town committees. If Milton adopts partisan elections, that changes, as it means that the ballot will show whether the person running for any position is a Republican or not. Without Partisan Elections, Democrats can win in a Republican town.
If you support transparency, then you should be supporting this warrant article. If any amendments are made that would change or undo the warrant article, show up to the town meeting and OPPOSE those amendments.
I am one of your Republican State Reps if you live in Milton, Rochester Ward 5, or Milton Mills. I hate it when people who have lived in Milton for years face evictions due to outrageous property taxes. People on fixed incomes shouldn't be forced out of their homes due to property tax increases, so I always vote in ways that are conducive to lowering taxes and expanding liberty when I'm up in Concord... but we need to win in Milton and not just in Concord in order to reduce property taxes.
I made this page and sent out the emails and text messages I did because my constituents DEMAND lower property taxes, but we need to win in the town meeting in order to deliver this. You can contact me by visiting this page: Gencourt Site
If you appreciate what I'm doing here, and want to help cover the costs of communications and other election-related expenses, a DONATION would be appreciated. THANK YOU!
